My name is Akio Adachi, President of Hot Strip Rolling Consulting, Inc.
Almost all technologies at present regarding hot strip mill were completed in 1970s, 1980s and 1990s in Japan by lots of competent engineers and researchers. In those years there existed big six steel companies with 16 hot strip mills in Japan. All Japanese steel companies were competitive, but cooperative in technologies in those years and presented each other in articles at conferences and subcommittee meetings what they experienced, experimented and developed. Also hot strip mill engineers visited the hot strip mills each other and learned the equipment and operation of them.
Over 2000 articles regarding hot strip mill were presented and discussed to develop capability of engineers and researchers. Also applied patents regarding hot strip mill exceeded 2000 in those days. But almost all articles and patents, which describe almost everything about hot strip mill operation, quality problems and maintenance in details, are in Japanese.
I was an engineer, an assistant manager and a manager of hot strip mill and hot strip technology section just in those years and so I have lots of actual experiences as well as knowledges by all Japanese steel companies.
